Update on Korben's Spelling test.
He brought his test home yesterday. He got a 64 on it. I look over the paper and see that two words were marked wrong. I also noticed that he wrote the word before the number. See he numbered his paper 1 through 16. He ran out of room so he put 13-16 on the other side of the paper. He must have rushed himself and wasn't thinking. He put every word 13-16 on the left side of the paper. He got 13 and 14 marked off even though they were spelled wrong. I wrote a note to his teacher asking why they were marked. She said she thought he spelling 'asl' and 'hisl' instead of 'as and 'his' The 'l' was the number 1. As a teacher I would have spotted this if 4 words were the same way written before the number. She said she would correct it this time. I really hope I don't have an airhead teacher this year. If I was his teacher I would have at least brought it to his attention about writing AFTER the number and asking him to respell the last 4 words.
So he got 4 wrong out of 16 words instead of 6 wrong. PLUS he got an extra credit word write 'apple'. I told him I was proud and that we have to work just a bit harder for this week.

Korben

This past week has been a little rollercoaster. On Thursday Korben had a rough time with his spelling homework. This involved throwing things off the kitchen table (placemat), erasing his paper so hard that he ripped it, having and puffing because eI wouldn't help with his spelling homework. He couldn't remember if his teacher, Mrs. W, told him to write 8 sentences again using all 16 spelling words or to write each word 5 times. So I told him to write each word 5 times just to be on the safe side. He wrote the sentences on the previous night. So for me as the parent I have no way to 'help' him write his spelling words. I told him if he needed help knowing what the word is to ask me. I was in the other room tending to Julianna at the time.
But he got so frustrated and temperamental, and after the ripping the paper, I told him to rewrite the words. He only had 3 words done. Then came the backtalking and what not. So he got grounded from his friends house. Matt talked to him over the phone about his 'situation.' Matt said that he will have to read one of his library books and do a small 'report' in his journal. This is the book he has to read:

It has 8 chapters, each chapter is 4 pages long (with pictures and big text.) Of course Korbe threw a huge fit cause the book is too long. He has only read the 1st chapter. His grounding won't be removed until the book is finished.
Besides that incident he has been a good kid. He has been helping me wash dishes, some I have to rewash. He has been trying his best to keep the two upstairs rooms cleaned (his playroom and bedroom.) I hope to get his spelling test back tomorrow. I really hope he did good. I asked him how he thought he did. He said he knew all of them except sandwich and picnic. I really don't remember having those words in 2nd grade. School studies has changed.

Julianna
Little Miss Tuffet has been a little handful this past week. We have 'lets rip off our diaper' at least once a day if not twice. We have now locked all of the doors in the hallway. We had to get a small screwdriver just to unlock them. If we just shut them she knows how to open them. This is what I found the other day in the computer room:

I wasn't gone but maybe 5 minutes. She is QUICK! The bottom picture she is smiling at herself in the mirror on the back of the computerroom door. She is such a ham.
Some of you may know that when a child is too quiet that you need to investigate. Well one morning I was checking my email and I didn't hear Julianna at all. I go in the kitchen and I don't see her. Her usual place is on top of the kitchen table, messing with whatever was left on there the night before. I look in the living room, nothing. I come back down the hall and look in her room:

She was sitting quietly in her room, loving on Elmo in her Elmo chair. I had to grab the camera really quick to capture her little Elmo moment. She loves that stuffed doll with the nasty dirty eyeballs. haha

I hope next time I post I will have a few pictures of Korben. He has a minipack meeting for Scouts on Tuesday. I am going to try to remember to get his picture in his Wolf Cub uniform. He hasn't worn it yet. He is a brand spaking new wolf cub.

Julianna peed in her Elmo potty on Sunday. It wasn't a willingness to go though. As soon as I got her out of the tub, she had a chill and I knew she was going to go all over my bathroom rug. So I hurried up and put her on. Right in time! She really didn't seem to notice what she was doing.
She has learned how to unsnap her diapers. By the way she wears cloth diapers. These are actually the type she wears, Fuzzi Bunz:

Earlier I found her running around stark naked. Then found a spot on the carpet. Though it was juice, Korben's juice. He went to clean it up and felt it was warm. Then I hear "Mom its PEEEEE!! GROOOOSSSSS!"
I am ready for her to be potty trained already.

Our Mini Vacation

This year we didn't have big enough funds to go on the vacation that we wanted to go on. Plus Matt couldn't get any paid vacation, that comes through next year. So we decided to take the kids to Huntsville, Alabama and go to the Air And Space Museum. I knew Julianna wouldn't be too interested but we made the best.
As soon as we arrived and got our tickets to go in we headed to the gift shop. Matt headed to the bathroom, as always. Korben wanted to get a box of space guys that cost 20 bucks. I said no way, but he fought and said that it was his money (from his birthday back in April) that he should be allowed to spend it on what he wants. I couldn't see spending that much on little guys that are eventually going to get lost.
So we head out of the shop, meet up with Matt and we are on our way through the Museum. They had alot of neat things there. My personal favorite was all of the different devices that they use while living in space. Like the potty 'chair' and the device they hook up in their suit to relieve theirselves. I also liked all the different food samples they had on display.
Korben of course was rushing us through wanting to look at everything. I had to tell him to slow down that we had ALL day here. We can take our time and read things. His favorite things were the rocket boosters. he also liked to look at all the suits that the astronauts used.
Matt and him did a rocking climbing thing too. Matt reached the top and cheered Korben on. He didn't get too far but he was on the 3rd level course.
We also cruise outside a bit and looked at all the rocket boosters and space vechilces. Matt rode on a ride that shot you straight in the air. If you ever been to Cedar point its that big ride that looks like a needle and you sit around it and you are shot up and it comes down. While Matt was on that Korben, Julianna and I sat and watched. Korben wanted to take some pictures while we were waiting. He took a picture of a apache helicopter, I think thats what it was. There was also other military vechiles out there. Julianna was in her stroller the whole time and wanted out to touch things.
Julianna ended up getting her energy out at a kids area that had a playground of sorts. I had a few pictures of her playing but most of them are blurry due to the never ending Julianna running all over the place. One good shot we have of her is sitting...in her stoller.

Korben had a good week at school. No notes or anything. I checked his adgenda yesterday and today and he had 'green' both days. That means he was good. They have a color system so they can alert the parents what level of behavior their kids were on that day. Green is good, Yellow is not good and not bad and red is bad. I think if they get yellow or red they get 5 minutes out of recess (yellow) and no recess all day (red). That is how they did it at Hobgood. I am not too sure if that is how they do it at Smyrna Primary.
I still have to email half of you about this blog. So if you are reading this there is another post before this one.

Soon I will be posting updated photos of the kids. Our USB connector isn't working or something. I tried to upload all of the pictures to the computer and it wasn't reading correctly. As soona s we get that fixed, there will be pictures up. I know I have to share our Air and Space Museum trip. I think I also have a few random pictures since taking those.

I think I am going to try to upload them on shutterfly and link it.

Korben

He has been in school for 3 days now. He is riding the bus to school and from school. On his first day of school he missed the bus in the morning. He was nervous and was shedding tears because the bus wasn't coming. It was running late and we didn't know that. I ended up taking him to school. He seemed better after that. He made it home fine, but was all sweaty from the bus ride home. He is in second grade this year and has Mrs. WIlliams as his teacher. She is from South Carolina and has that southern drawl. She seems to be very nice.
Korben has had homework already but it wasn't anything big. Just writing about himself and his favorite things.

Julianna

Let see what I can say about the little princess. She is veering into the world of the terriable twos. Yes, she is only 20 months but I think for girls it starts early?!? She is beginning to be a screamer. She has her melt downs and tantrums. Nothing we can't handle though.
She has been saying so many new words its crazy. Yesterday she has started saying "Bye Bye" really clear. She still can't say Mommy, Mama. Heck I'm home with her all day you would think she would say it. She has been learning quite a few things from the little boy I watch during the day. Like climbing on bookcases and the word "No" and "Mine". I can tell she is going to be a handful in the many months to come.
