Now Blogger wants to make my picture look horriable. Anyways here is the link to the original pictures. This one is in there also but with no fuzzies!
Party Pictures!!
The PARTY!!

The first guest was Nana Sue. She had bought Halloween/Fall items on sale and brought them with her. In the bag was a Superman costume for Korben (For next halloween). He fit into it perfectly. Kid is growing to fast. Well one kid got the mask and the other put on the costume. I think Korben was acting like he was being exposed to Kryptonite?? I dunno but he is acting silly and wouldn't pose like a Super Hero actually winning. Julianna wouldn't take the mask off for a while. It was creepy though. I would turn around and she would be looking at me with that thing on. Sorta reminded me of Leather Face in a way. We didn't have much to do for preparing for the party. We bought some Little Ceaser's Pizza, chips and then had our cake and ice cream. I ended up making her cake like I did last year. Last year she had Care Bears. This year it didn't have a theme. BUT we did get Car cake plates and napkins. She is still in a CARS thing as of lately. We actually had to watch it today before her party. haha. Anyways we had a chocolate fudge cake with white whipping icing. All from the box though. I am not quite good with from scratch. But here is her yummy cake!
Could have done better with the writing...but it is better than last years. She knew how to blow out her candle too...which was fun to watch. She tried three times to blow it out and when she finally did...we cheered for her and she started to clap! I guess she was really proud of herself! Well the pictures are not loading up like they should. I will have to upload them on Shutterfly then make a link on here that allof you can click on and look at all the pictures. After we had cake Julianna passed out on the rocking chair with me. She was SOOO tired and didn't have a nap ALL day. I tried to get her down for one before people started to come in but that didn't happen. Julianna's favorite toy at this party was her 3ft. Superman that Nana Sue got her. Yes I said 3 foot. He comes up right to her forehead. Its a sight watching her try to carry him around the house. So She got a Singing Spiderman from Nana Nancy and Papa Bill and a Big Superman from Nana Sue. I think she likes Super Heros that wear Red and Blue! lol
Matt ended up renting Superman Returns because Sue and I have never seen it. Julianna woke up about 10 minutes into the movie and watched the whole thing. She got a bit upset when Superman got hurt and had to be comforted by Daddy. I wonder if she will out grow this stage of Super Hero love?!
Alright I guess I on'y get a 3 picture limit for each entry. Grrr. I will post the funniest picture that I got of Julianna and Superman. I should have taken on when she was sitting on his lap during the movie but I didn't have my camera with me.

I am goign to paste whatI wrote in my own blog because it should have been posted here anyways. oops!

Well my little baby girl will be 2 years old tomorrow! Its so crazy how time flies. Doesn't everyone say that about birthdays though?!?

Julianna is such a mixture. She loves her babydolls but also loves her Spiderman. She would be happy playing in a pile of dirt and combing her barbie's hair. She loves to watch football and to dance to Pink.

We are having Matt's parents down, along with his two brothers, godfather and I think his aunt and uncle on Saturday. I will be making a cake and we will be getting Little Ceasers to munch on. We gave her one of her presents on last Saturday and will be giving her the other one tomorrow. Nothing too big though. She would rather play with paper than anything. LOVES to rip it and if there is a pen near by....draw on it. That girl LOVES to draw...just like her big brother!

Korben and Julianna are better now. Julianna just has a pink area on her cheek where her rash was. It was hard to get it healed up because she kept pulling the bandaid off and scratching it. Poor little girl. It itched sooo bad.
Korben helped us pick some colors out for the house last weekend. We went to Lowes and he picked out some nice colors for his room. He wants a yellow color on his walls and either a blueish or green trim. We are in the process of painting and sealing cracks in the kids playroom. Its going to look so nice once its finished. We have a light blue trim and a blue/gray for the walls. Once we paint the playroom, whatever is left over of the paint we will paint the upstairs bathroom. We are having a Space theme. We found an astronaut bath rug at Old Time Pottery yesterday. Now to hunt down for more things to put in there. Maybe two pictures and a shower curtain.
Korben had a food drive yesterday at a grocery store in Murfreesboro. His cub scout pack recieved TONS of goods to take to the pantry next Saturday. He seemed like he had tons of fun. He was excited to ask people to donate when they would walk into the store. I took him and Julianna to a kids workshop at Lowes on saturday too. He made a napkin holder and him and another scout from his den went around an located tools and said what they did. It was part of an Acheievment that they had to accomplish to get a Wolf Badge.
OHHHH!!! Julianna is now saying Mommy and actually using it! Earlier today she was playing peek-a-boo while I was in the kitchen. She would say "Mommmmmie!!" I would look and she would close the partion doors. Then say "Mommmie!! Bye!" She is SOO silly.

The world must be ending...I have another entry for you guys today. haha

We have another sick kid on the lose. Last week it was Korben and his strep. Now its Julianna and her impetigo. Kids are not getting a break. We have two oral meds for her and a cream for her spot on her cheek. Basically she had a bug bite that got infected with strep bacteria (from Korben most likely). It said it should clear up with in 3 to 4 days. We go back next tuesday for a follow up. Things come in three in the Spurlock household....what is next?!?!?

Milestone complete!!
Julianna has finally said "Mommie". I've been waiting forever for her to pronouce it. Now for her to actually say it when she wants my attention. I asked her who Mommie is and she pointed to me. =o)

Its been quite a crazy last week in the Spurlock household. Saturday we went up to Clarksville (2 hours south from here) to a friend's wedding. Before we left Korben told me he wasn't feeling well. He hasn't been feeling well for the past week. Just nausious and such. So I took his temp and it was at 102.7. I told him to call Papa Gilbert to see if he could watch him while we go to the wedding. Papa G was at work. So we call Ray and he said he would watch Korben while we went. They went to Walmart to look for the Clone Trooper gun and to get pumpkins to carve while we were gone.
The wedding was short and nice. Alot like ours but they were in traditional dress and had a whole wedding party. They needed more tables/chairs for the reception though. People ate in shifts.
Anyways Korben was mostly mopey and still had a fever the whole weekend. On Monday I took him to the Drs. they did a rapid test for Strep. It came back negative but the Dr said he had ALL the symptoms for it. He ended up giving us a Rx for it anyways. Day two of Korben being on it and his throat is hurting pretty bad. On top of that, he has one of his permanant molars coming through and has a bump on the side of his tongue. SO its been hard for him to eat anything. I told Korben that his throat will probably hurt for a couple more days then it will slowly get better. But his energy level is better. He swept the kitchen floor this afternoon and 'mopped' it as well.

Now with Julianna. On Friday I noticed a red bump on her right cheek. It looked like a Mosquito bite that she had been mesisng with. On Saturday it looked a bit different. More red. Yesterday I put some benadryl on it. At night I put some Black Salv on a bandaid and let that sit on her cheek over night. I took it off this morning and it looked a bit worse. I am not sure if it is a spider bite or not. I looked up Brown Recluse bite pictures and it doesn't look like that. Plus she has been picking at it today and made it bleed. I cleaned it off with 1/2water 1/2 peroxide solution and but some more benadryl cream on her cheek. I taped a cotton ball on top of it. She ripped it off once already. I just hope tomorrow it is better. If it looks worse Iw ill take her to a walk-in clinic and get a Rx for that as well.

Now I am jsut waiting for Matt or I to have something wrong with us. Everything comes in threes here!

Something new about Julianna...she eats the whole apple, Core and all. I realized this when we were outside the other day and she had an apple in her hand. I looked down and the core was half gone. At least she doesn't waste any!
This friday is Korben's Cub scout Jamboree at a Wilson County fairgrounds. Only one other boy in his Den is going. I am not sure how many in our whole pack will be there BUT they said there will be thousands of Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts there. It is a family camping outing so Julianna will be in tow. MAtt will be watching her most of the time I think because I am a Den Leader and most likely I will be involved in something.
Korben is excited. He will get to bring his Best Design Pinewood Derby Car from last season and he will be making a boat to race in the Boat Regatta. So he will be competing against other Cub Scouts, probably other Wolf Cubs.
Speaking of scouts Korben is selling Popcorn this year for Scouts. This will be his first time, last year we missed it all when we were transferring him to another pack. So if you want to order some popcorn, and let Korben earn a badge, let me know. Here is the website where you can see everything they are selling.

POPCORN!!

If you want something email me, leave a message here or call me and I will let you know how much everything is. I just noticed they don't have prices next to the products. I know the 15pack box butter popcorn is $13, the Caramel Corn in Tin is $8 and the two other tins (24oz and 26oz) is $16.

I leave you now with a little video of Julianna. THis was taken about 3 weeks ago.

I just noticed her lips are out of sync with her voice. Thats what I get for loading it to another website.

Yes I am a slacker. The kids spot needs an update bad. We have just been really busy. Anytime I sit at the computer, I check my email and a few of my message boards and get off. I just don't have a lot of spare time like I use to.
Korben is doing fairly well in school. He is liking it more I assume because he isn't complaining like he use to. Last Thursday I had to pick him up at 8:45am. He got sick 3 times and had what I had the week before. He didn't go to school the next day either so he missed his spelling test. This week he had to catch up on school work from last week during recess time which I did not like. Next time I will write a note and ask if he can do it during music or art class. He needs that outside time bad. He is a boy with loads of energy. Today he brought home a prize (Solar System kit) from the class treasure chest. He was so proud of himself. I think the system is if he gets so many frogs for having good behavior they get to either get candy (7 frogs), Treasure Chest (15 frogs), sitting at the rug, eating with the teacher and eating with the principal. He said he has 10 frogs leftover.
We aren't sure if all the plants are in the right distance stick but its all put together for right now. He lost the center stick (that holds the other sticks up) on the bus. So he found a stick outside and carved it down to put in the middle. He said he has to find a straight stick tomorrow so everything isn't slanted.
Scouts is doing well. He seems to look forward to it now. I guess I am making it fun for the boys. They made chocolate covered Animal Crackers on Monday. It was a bit of a mess but they sure loved it. Our theme this month is Zoo Adventures. Tomorrow, if the weather cooperates, we will be going to the Nashville Zoo for an achievement they need. So far only one other scout and his parents said they will be going.
I'll be updating about Julianna a little later in the week. The website isn't cooperating with me and won't upload anymore pictures. Once it starts working again I have 3 more pictures.

Update from the week!

I didn't get a picture of Korben in his Wolf Cub uniform. We were rushing out of the door to make it to Murfreesboro by 6:30. We made it just in time. He ended up being the only kid in his den there. There were three more boys that are brand new to the scouting thing. Of course ours truly volunteered to be Den Leader. I really didn't want them to be stuck with someone who would bail out on them in a heartbeat. Korben had a OK time last year ubt towards the end both den leaders were gone and so where the boys. It was just Korben and I in his den. He seemed REALLY happy that I raised my hand to be a leader.
So instead of a uniform picture of Korben I present a picture of him in his natural habitat. He is sipping on some milk and just had his oreos. Thats is what he chose for his bedtime snack. The chair he is sitting in, Matt's mom got us that and he absolutely loves it. So does Matt. He uses it while playing his games.

Ms. Julianna has been doing alright too. She has been a little hellion today though. Picking on the little boy I watch by pulling at his shirt and grabbing his snack and almost his lunch. She doesn't like to eat off her own plate, but others. Tomorrow I am going to pretend to make a plate for myself and sit her on my lap to see what she does. She also is too smart for her own good. She knows when I am putting juice or milk in her cup. She throws a huge fit when I put milk in her cup. Julianna has also been experimenting with what she can do. Take for instance this:
Yes that is a genuine spitbubble. She builds up so much spit that it actually starts to drip off her china nd get her shirt soaked. I am not sure who she learned this from. I am thinking she might have saw us blow bubbles, with gum and figured how to blow spit bubbles.
Oh and yes I know she needs a haircut. I tried to trim her bangs but wasn't too successful at that attempt. She just squirms way too much for me to get them straight let alone cut.
A new 'stepping stone' of sorts for Julianna is getting to go upstairs with Korben. She loves the playroom and of course gets every thing out which frustrates Korben to no end. She LOVES to color on the big sheets of paper we have hanging on the door. We have the same sheet up there for the past 3 weeks and she still seems to find a bare spot to color on. Well I hear a little scream coming from upstairs. Korben was wanting me to take a look at his 'brand new' castle that he build with his legos.

Update on Korben's Spelling test.
He brought his test home yesterday. He got a 64 on it. I look over the paper and see that two words were marked wrong. I also noticed that he wrote the word before the number. See he numbered his paper 1 through 16. He ran out of room so he put 13-16 on the other side of the paper. He must have rushed himself and wasn't thinking. He put every word 13-16 on the left side of the paper. He got 13 and 14 marked off even though they were spelled wrong. I wrote a note to his teacher asking why they were marked. She said she thought he spelling 'asl' and 'hisl' instead of 'as and 'his' The 'l' was the number 1. As a teacher I would have spotted this if 4 words were the same way written before the number. She said she would correct it this time. I really hope I don't have an airhead teacher this year. If I was his teacher I would have at least brought it to his attention about writing AFTER the number and asking him to respell the last 4 words.
So he got 4 wrong out of 16 words instead of 6 wrong. PLUS he got an extra credit word write 'apple'. I told him I was proud and that we have to work just a bit harder for this week.

Korben

This past week has been a little rollercoaster. On Thursday Korben had a rough time with his spelling homework. This involved throwing things off the kitchen table (placemat), erasing his paper so hard that he ripped it, having and puffing because eI wouldn't help with his spelling homework. He couldn't remember if his teacher, Mrs. W, told him to write 8 sentences again using all 16 spelling words or to write each word 5 times. So I told him to write each word 5 times just to be on the safe side. He wrote the sentences on the previous night. So for me as the parent I have no way to 'help' him write his spelling words. I told him if he needed help knowing what the word is to ask me. I was in the other room tending to Julianna at the time.
But he got so frustrated and temperamental, and after the ripping the paper, I told him to rewrite the words. He only had 3 words done. Then came the backtalking and what not. So he got grounded from his friends house. Matt talked to him over the phone about his 'situation.' Matt said that he will have to read one of his library books and do a small 'report' in his journal. This is the book he has to read:

It has 8 chapters, each chapter is 4 pages long (with pictures and big text.) Of course Korbe threw a huge fit cause the book is too long. He has only read the 1st chapter. His grounding won't be removed until the book is finished.
Besides that incident he has been a good kid. He has been helping me wash dishes, some I have to rewash. He has been trying his best to keep the two upstairs rooms cleaned (his playroom and bedroom.) I hope to get his spelling test back tomorrow. I really hope he did good. I asked him how he thought he did. He said he knew all of them except sandwich and picnic. I really don't remember having those words in 2nd grade. School studies has changed.

Julianna
Little Miss Tuffet has been a little handful this past week. We have 'lets rip off our diaper' at least once a day if not twice. We have now locked all of the doors in the hallway. We had to get a small screwdriver just to unlock them. If we just shut them she knows how to open them. This is what I found the other day in the computer room:

I wasn't gone but maybe 5 minutes. She is QUICK! The bottom picture she is smiling at herself in the mirror on the back of the computerroom door. She is such a ham.
Some of you may know that when a child is too quiet that you need to investigate. Well one morning I was checking my email and I didn't hear Julianna at all. I go in the kitchen and I don't see her. Her usual place is on top of the kitchen table, messing with whatever was left on there the night before. I look in the living room, nothing. I come back down the hall and look in her room:

She was sitting quietly in her room, loving on Elmo in her Elmo chair. I had to grab the camera really quick to capture her little Elmo moment. She loves that stuffed doll with the nasty dirty eyeballs. haha

I hope next time I post I will have a few pictures of Korben. He has a minipack meeting for Scouts on Tuesday. I am going to try to remember to get his picture in his Wolf Cub uniform. He hasn't worn it yet. He is a brand spaking new wolf cub.

Julianna peed in her Elmo potty on Sunday. It wasn't a willingness to go though. As soon as I got her out of the tub, she had a chill and I knew she was going to go all over my bathroom rug. So I hurried up and put her on. Right in time! She really didn't seem to notice what she was doing.
She has learned how to unsnap her diapers. By the way she wears cloth diapers. These are actually the type she wears, Fuzzi Bunz:

Earlier I found her running around stark naked. Then found a spot on the carpet. Though it was juice, Korben's juice. He went to clean it up and felt it was warm. Then I hear "Mom its PEEEEE!! GROOOOSSSSS!"
I am ready for her to be potty trained already.

Our Mini Vacation

This year we didn't have big enough funds to go on the vacation that we wanted to go on. Plus Matt couldn't get any paid vacation, that comes through next year. So we decided to take the kids to Huntsville, Alabama and go to the Air And Space Museum. I knew Julianna wouldn't be too interested but we made the best.
As soon as we arrived and got our tickets to go in we headed to the gift shop. Matt headed to the bathroom, as always. Korben wanted to get a box of space guys that cost 20 bucks. I said no way, but he fought and said that it was his money (from his birthday back in April) that he should be allowed to spend it on what he wants. I couldn't see spending that much on little guys that are eventually going to get lost.
So we head out of the shop, meet up with Matt and we are on our way through the Museum. They had alot of neat things there. My personal favorite was all of the different devices that they use while living in space. Like the potty 'chair' and the device they hook up in their suit to relieve theirselves. I also liked all the different food samples they had on display.
Korben of course was rushing us through wanting to look at everything. I had to tell him to slow down that we had ALL day here. We can take our time and read things. His favorite things were the rocket boosters. he also liked to look at all the suits that the astronauts used.
Matt and him did a rocking climbing thing too. Matt reached the top and cheered Korben on. He didn't get too far but he was on the 3rd level course.
We also cruise outside a bit and looked at all the rocket boosters and space vechilces. Matt rode on a ride that shot you straight in the air. If you ever been to Cedar point its that big ride that looks like a needle and you sit around it and you are shot up and it comes down. While Matt was on that Korben, Julianna and I sat and watched. Korben wanted to take some pictures while we were waiting. He took a picture of a apache helicopter, I think thats what it was. There was also other military vechiles out there. Julianna was in her stroller the whole time and wanted out to touch things.
Julianna ended up getting her energy out at a kids area that had a playground of sorts. I had a few pictures of her playing but most of them are blurry due to the never ending Julianna running all over the place. One good shot we have of her is sitting...in her stoller.

Korben had a good week at school. No notes or anything. I checked his adgenda yesterday and today and he had 'green' both days. That means he was good. They have a color system so they can alert the parents what level of behavior their kids were on that day. Green is good, Yellow is not good and not bad and red is bad. I think if they get yellow or red they get 5 minutes out of recess (yellow) and no recess all day (red). That is how they did it at Hobgood. I am not too sure if that is how they do it at Smyrna Primary.
I still have to email half of you about this blog. So if you are reading this there is another post before this one.

Soon I will be posting updated photos of the kids. Our USB connector isn't working or something. I tried to upload all of the pictures to the computer and it wasn't reading correctly. As soona s we get that fixed, there will be pictures up. I know I have to share our Air and Space Museum trip. I think I also have a few random pictures since taking those.

I think I am going to try to upload them on shutterfly and link it.

Korben

He has been in school for 3 days now. He is riding the bus to school and from school. On his first day of school he missed the bus in the morning. He was nervous and was shedding tears because the bus wasn't coming. It was running late and we didn't know that. I ended up taking him to school. He seemed better after that. He made it home fine, but was all sweaty from the bus ride home. He is in second grade this year and has Mrs. WIlliams as his teacher. She is from South Carolina and has that southern drawl. She seems to be very nice.
Korben has had homework already but it wasn't anything big. Just writing about himself and his favorite things.

Julianna

Let see what I can say about the little princess. She is veering into the world of the terriable twos. Yes, she is only 20 months but I think for girls it starts early?!? She is beginning to be a screamer. She has her melt downs and tantrums. Nothing we can't handle though.
She has been saying so many new words its crazy. Yesterday she has started saying "Bye Bye" really clear. She still can't say Mommy, Mama. Heck I'm home with her all day you would think she would say it. She has been learning quite a few things from the little boy I watch during the day. Like climbing on bookcases and the word "No" and "Mine". I can tell she is going to be a handful in the many months to come.
